Written MS report
A written manuscript report is a simple story edit - a review of your novel in a Word document. It will include identification of plot holes, lack of character development, and potential POV issues, but it won't provide you with a detailed way to fix them. A suggestion may be given for the reoccurring issues, but it's up to you as an author to resolve them throughout your novel.

My rate will depend on the length of your novel:
- up to 50K words: $70 + PayPal fee
- up to 100K words: $120 + PayPal fee
- up to 150K words: $170 + PayPal fee

Copyediting
Copyediting (line editing) involves marking up an author’s text and correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as improving readability and flow while trying to preserve the author's voice and style. This type of editing will usually include two passes. During the first pass, I may point out some structural issues as well so you can resolve them on time for the second pass, where I will mostly pay attention to the syntax.

My rate will depend on the length of your novel:
- up to 50K words: $200 + PayPal fee
- up to 100K words: $450 + PayPal fee
- up to 150K words: $650 + PayPal fee

Structural editing
If your concerns include pacing, character development, world building, plot holes, and POV inconsistency, then you should consider structural (developmental) editing. But this is not a simple task, and some issues might need more time and patience to resolve. Apart from your full manuscript, I would need your one-line pitch, synopsis, chapter-by-chapter summary, and a filled-out structural editing sheet, which I will provide.

- up to 50K words: $350 + PayPal fee
- up to 100K words: $580 + PayPal fee
- up to 150K words: $800 + PayPal fee
Proofreading
Proofreading comprises careful reading while checking for errors in a text, such as spelling and punctuation mistakes, typos, formatting issues, and inconsistencies.
For this service, you will need to determine the spelling and punctuation you want to use, as there are differences between UK and US publications. If you've used a combination of the two, we will discuss the market you wish to conquer and decide what would be the best option for your book.

Why are the rates so low?
Currently, I have an entry-level membership in the CIEP, but I'm aiming to upgrade to intermediate. So far, I've taken six courses: grammar and punctuation, introduction to proofreading, introduction to copy-editing, introduction to fiction editing, Word for practical editing, and the art of querying (nothing to do with query letters, I'm afraid, but rather a course about how an editor is supposed to talk to their clients and ask them questions). This means I am still learning. Thus, the rates are much lower than any other professional editor's - and they are also negotiable, especially if you need a combo edit.

How will this affect you?
As you know, no editor will suggest the same changes, especially when it comes to structural issues or syntax. To ensure I have experience, I have organized a Twitter editing giveaway in September 2022 and have chosen 12 authors to work with. Some of them will be listed in the references below, and some have posted about their experience on Twitter.
